The Functional Medicine Approach.

Our approach to health is simple.

The body has the innate ability to self-regulate, adapt to it’s stressors and self-heal. All we need to do is provide it with what it needs and remove the factors that are blocking it for it to fulfil that potential.

Functional Medicine provides the roadmap to identify those needs in each individual for the expression of optimal health.

As Doctors of Chiropractic and Functional Medicine Practitioners our approach focusses on promoting health. We do not claim to treat or diagnose disease and Functional Medicine should not be used to substitute medical advise or treatment.

Young woman with IBS and hormone problems

‘Functional Medicine has changed my life’ – Kelly, 28

“I had a range of different symptoms before working with Jamie with no clear diagnosis and no clarity as to what was causing them. My symptoms were mixed between GI issues and hormonal imbalances. I was very frustrated as I wasn’t getting any answers and there was no information for me to try and get better. I felt very helpless.

I feel completely different now, I feel like myself again. A feeling that I had not had for a long time. Knowing what was happening with my body and how I could help myself was invaluable. Jamie educated me in a way that was supportive and motivating and allowed me to take control of my health. I can truly say that my experience of functional medicine has changed my life.”

The Functional Medicine Tree

If illness were a tree, the branches and leaves would display the symptoms and diagnoses which we can see from the outside. A solely symptom treatment approach would be to prune the ‘bad leaves’. Helping the tree to get healthier and thrive would be to address what is happening in the soil.

‘If a flower was dying, you would not water the petals, you would water the roots.’

Picture of a woman who suffers from Lupus and used Functional Medicine to improve her health

‘I’m A Different Person’ – Sue, 57

“I was diagnosed with Lupus around 30 years ago and I went through all the channels, tried all the medicines and I ended up being given 2 years to live – I was in a wheelchair and weighed 6 stone.

Through alternative methods and after changing my diet I was well again within a fortnight – I ditched all the medicine, I ditched the hospital to. And for all these years I have managed to stay more or less well, but, although I liked to think I had it under control I was still aware of the Lupus creeping round my body. I was really struggling with sleeplessness, it was wearing away the front of my teeth, I had frequent migraines and I also still came up with rashes on my hands.

Now, I am so much better! I have a refreshing night’s sleep which makes me feel so much better, I feel energised, I have not had migraines in 6 weeks – I can’t remember the last time I got a prescription from the doctor. I’m a different person!”
